Have not seen one of these in AGES. It was in spectacular shape as well. This being DC, I’m assuming the owner may actually be French.

Wow, an Mi16 even. The 405 has also died out here in Europe (well except France probably) , I can’t even remember the last time I saw one.

Part of me really wants a 405 but then the other part reminds me that it would be basically impossible to keep it running here in the US.

Side note: At some point I need to get around to showing Oppo the import car dealer near my school that specializes in Peugeots. They always have a few nice 505s and 405s there.

My old Superintendent used to have a diesel one of these as a daily driver. The thing just wouldn’t die, no matter what she did (she didn’t really like it so ragged the thing all the time).

Rare even in France! You don’t see the 505 either, which is probably because one of us has seems to have collected all of them....

Weird, I would have expected some of them around, as it’s competitor the R 21 still is pretty common.

Hahaha

Wow, I haven’t seen an Mi16 in years. They all became engine donors for 205GTI 16v swaps in the ‘00s, here. It’s pretty much just the diesels left.

Here in Finland you still 405s somewhat often. One fairly nice looking is parked halfway of my daily commute. During the summertime it’s joined by a mid 70's Ford Cortina.

But R21s are very rare. They didn’t sell much.

Oh wow, wasn’t really expecting that! I guess the reputation of reliability Peugeots gained in Africa also holds true in the cold north :p

504 and 505 were very common here but nearly all have been exported to certain African countries. Apparently 405 isn’t so much sought after there.

You’re telling me the French preserved the unremarkable 21s but didn’t take care of what was basically a front wheel drive BMW E30?

I guess there’s still plenty of these in Iran though. Still, strange.

So it seems. You do see 405s but the 21, elles sont partout.

The 205 however is absolutely everywhere.

I mean, the 205 is even common (by 80s French car standards, read ‘rare than most supercars but you’ll see a few in the usual places) in the UK.

Nice to know there’s plenty of them to go round, now when will the 205 GTI prices go down...?

Normal parts car be imported quite easily. You just need to have the patience for the parts to ship and willing to pay the higher shipping costs. But the normal wear items are very easily available. I never had any issue at all with my peugeot 205s, of which the gti 1.9 version has roughly the same engine as the Mi16. They’re quite durable/reliable too, from a 30 year old car perspective. Easy to work on too and, yes, documentation in English.
